Reminiscences
Hands-down favorite
My husband Tom and I have been huge fans of your restaurants since Pazzo days! Wow, that was a long time ago. Hands down, our favorite has been Nel Centro, not only for the great food, but the employees. We made many friends, the host and particularly barkeep Jamie and her husband Russ. We considered them part of our family. I’m devastated that we’ll probably never run into them again. ~ J&T
favorite patio
I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about your having to close Nel Centro, perhaps my all-around favorite patio to hang out in on a warm summer night. It always seemed the right spot to relax in with a good menu to choose from generally and an intelligent, thoughtful wine list. ~ PM
You will be missed
We just heard you’re closing your restaurants.
We will miss Nel Centro and the wonderful people there so much. What a special place.
My heart goes out to you, your family, and your teams. I’m so very sorry. ~ SMW
Thank you
This crisis has taken away so many things, but I think I’m joined by many in Portland who will agree that your restaurants closing is some of the worst news. I don’t know anything about the restaurant business, but you created a special kind of magic. ~ BC
I loved their craft cocktails
We visited Altabira at least twice a month when open, always sitting at the bar. Best service & epically good food every time. I loved their craft cocktails. Even took my business photos for work there. Seriously.... this one hurts. ~ AR
a brilliant destination
In all these years, each breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and after-show meal was as wonderful as I could wish for. You have always been a brilliant destination. And, I appreciated your continuing generosity to arts organizations in our community. ~ Lfavorite happy hour spot
This was my favorite happy hour spot when I lived in Portland, and it truly book-ended my stay. I think I was both interviewed here and my goodbye lunch was here! Thanks for all of the memories ~ LS
So grateful
I have been working at Altabira for the past year. So grateful to have worked for such a beautiful place and will miss it greatly! Thanks for everyone that visited and made it such a great working experience. Miss the views already. ~ KB
Shining light
"So sad to hear about your closings. You have been a shining light for our industry my 25 years in Portland, all the way back to my first sit down meal at Pazzo. One thing I am certain about even in these uncertain times is that you will always do what is right." ~ G
